TEEN ROAD TEST

WHAT IS REQUIRED TO SCHEDULE FOR TEEN ROAD TEST:

*IF YOU ARE 16-24 YEARS OLD AND COMPLETED A FULL TEEN DRIVERS ED COURSE AND YOUR PERMIT HAS EXPIRED, YOU MUST RENEW PERMIT BEFORE SCHEDULING THE ROAD TEST

* Teen must have completed a full  TEXAS TEEN DRIVER ED COURSE & issued a DE-964 "For Drivers License Only " certificate.

* Must be between the ages of 16-24.

* Must have completed the full Teenage Driver Education Course plus 30 hours of  Logged Practice time with parent.

* Held Learners TEXAS Permit for 6 months. (See Date on back of your Permit).  (No expired or out of state permits)

TEEN WHAT TO EXPECT:

* Schedule a ROAD TEST Appointment, in your vehicle. Insurance on vehicle must be provided. Teen does not need to be on Insurance. No Rental Cars.

* As of September 1, 2015 a Teen is required by the State of Texas to watch a 2 hour ITTD video about Distractions While Driving.

* A-Plus Driving School will email you the link and TDLR# to watch ITTD Video online, once appointment is made.

* IMPACT VIDEO MUST BE WATCHED AND DATED AFTER FULL COURSE (Including Driving Lessons and 30 Hour Log) IS COMPLETED, NOT BEFORE.

FAQs

  • Q: Is ITTD part of the 32 classroom hours of Driver Education required to complete prior to taking the skills (behind the wheel) examination?

    A: ITTD is a separate requirement and must be completed no more than 90 days prior to the applicant taking the skills examination. ITTD should be completed after the 32 classroom hours and all behind the wheel instruction has been given and is the last step before taking the driving skills examination.

  • Q: Who is required to take ITTD?

    A: Any applicant who has taken a Teen Driver Education Course (32 hours classroom/44 hours behind the wheel), issued a DE-964, and is scheduled to take a drive test September 1, 2015 and beyond is required to view the ITTD program and receive a completion certificate before the drive test will be administered. The certificate must be dated within 90 days of the drive test.

  • Q: Is there an expiration date on the ITTD certificate?

  • A: The ITTD certification does not display an expiration date. However, the ITTD certificate is only valid for 90 days. If the applicant does not pass the driving skills examination within 90 days of the date on the certificate they must restart the ITTD program.

  • Q: Do I have to watch the whole 2 hour video in a single viewing?

    A: No, the ITTD video is broken up into eight (8) modules that you can view independently. Each module must be completed in its entirety in order to progress to the next module.

  • Q: After I complete all modules and finish the ITTD video, how will I receive my certificate?

    A: A copy of the certificate will be e-mailed to the address used to create an account on the ITTD website. Additionally, you will be able to log in to the ITTD website at any time to retrieve and print your certificate.

  • Q: Can I submit the electronic copy of my certificate to the driver license office or TPST school?

    A: No. You must print the certificate and submit a paper copy to the driver license office or TPST school.

  • Q: Is there a fee required to take ITTD?

    A: No. ITTD is offered by the Department free of charge.

 

*Print off ITTD video Certificate after watching video online.  Must bring with you to RoadTest at A-Plus.

* Payment  of $75 Cash Only . 

* Teen may take Driving Test up to 3 times within 90 days of watching Impact video. If past 90 days, student must pay $75 to retest.

* If Teen Fails after 3rd Test, a Fee of $75 will need to be paid again.

$25 Fee for:  1) Reschedule due to non-compliance of documentation requirements;  2) Car failed inspection; 3) No Show,Rescheduling or cancelling less than 24 hours prior scheduled test.

TEEN ITEMS TO BRING TO COMPLETE ROAD TEST:

___VALID Texas Learners Permit

___DE-964 (Certificate issued when Drivers Ed course was completed).

Must state on the DE964 Certificate : DPS COPY - FOR DRIVERS LICENSE ONLY.

*Double check your DE964 that you bring the correct one.

*Parent Taught DE964 must be filled out and signed before arriving. 

*If student transferred from another driving school or from an online driving course, you must bring both DE964s. The transferred DE964 and the Final DE964.

___ITTD IMPACT Video Certificate. (Certificate only valid for 90 days)

___Parent or legal guardian to sign forms

___$75 Cash Only

___Your Street Legal Vehicle that student will Test in and must show Insurance ID card. MUST HAVE INSURANCE CARD, NO EXCEPTIONS.

*Vehicle must have all current inspecitions, front & back License plates  attached to vehicle, all blinkers and brake lights and horn must work.

TEEN PASSING THE ROAD TEST:

A-Plus will issue a sealed envelope with Exam Form Test results, DE-964 & Video Certifcate.

This Envelope may not be opened except by DPS Staff.

Take Teen and Sealed Envelope to DPS to have Driver License issued.

ADULT ROAD TEST 18 -24 YEARS OLD

What is Required for Adults between the ages of 18-24 years old:

*If you have already been to DPS and entered in system at DPS and did NOT get your permit, you must go back to DPS and have your permit issued before A-Plus can make an appointment with you for the Road Test.  NO RECEIPTS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

*Completed a 6 hour adult course and issued ADE1317 (purple) Certificate.

*Issued by DPS, your Valid TEXAS PERMIT (NO OUT OF STATE OR EXPIRED PERMITS ALLOWED FOR TESTING)

* Watch the 1 hour ITYD IMPACT Video. This Video link will be provided to you once appointment is made with A-Plus Driving School.
