IMPORTANT INFO /POLICIES/TERMS & CONDITIONS and WHAT DOCUMENTS TO BRING

Important Policy Reminders:

• All road test fees are non-refundable under any circumstances. This includes but is not limited to illness, personal emergencies, transportation issues, or scheduling conflicts.

  We require minimum of a 24 hour notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your road test. Failure to provide adequate notice will result in forfeiture of your payment.

  We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we maintain fairness and integrity in our scheduling process.

  Cancelling or Rescheduling a Road Test:
• Once you have made an appointment, you will receive a confirmation email. In the email you will see where you can cancel and reschedule your appointment.
• You may reschedule your appointment if cancelling no less than 24 hours of your scheduled appointment.
• if you have canceled 24 hours or less of the appointment time, You will need to call in to our office to reschedule another road test appointment by phone.  A rescheduling fee of $40 will apply.
• Missed appointments, No Show. late arrivals, arriving with incorrect paperwork will result in forfeiture of payment.
• Rescheduled Road Tests are only available on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursdays at 12:40pm or 5:20pm. You must arrive 20 minutes before your scheduled appointment.

Missed Test or No-Show Road Test Policy

• If a student misses a scheduled Road Test for any reason including no show or arriving without the required documents or vehicle not road ready, there will be no refund, but you may reschedule by calling our office. A rescheduling fee of $40 will apply. 
• Rescheduled Road Test availability is Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursdays at 12:40pm or 5:20pm. You must arrive 20 minutes before your scheduled appointment,

Cancellations & Refund Eligibility

If you cancel your Authorized DPS Road Test no less than 24 hours of your scheduled road test appointment, you will be eligible for a refund upon request.

Please note:

• Refunds are not automatic — they must be manually processed by our office.
• To request a refund, contact us at 281-353-9377.
• Refunds are issued back to the original payment method through Shopify once approved.
• There will be a $4.00 Refund Fee, if canceled before 24 hours of the appointment.
• If the cancellation occurs less than 24 hours before the appointment, no refund will be issued under any circumstance.
• You may Reschedule by calling in within 90 days of original appointment there will be a $40 Rescheduling Fee. 
• Rescheduled Road Test availability is Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursdays. You must arrive 20 minutes before your scheduled appointment,

Eligibility to Test:

You must be 16 or older the day of your test and have a valid Texas Learner License or Temporary Permit with your photo on the permit. (No DPS receipts or picture on your phone or Expired Permits will be accepted 

• • 16 & 17 Years Old: Must have held permit OVER 6 months. This date is listed on the back of your permit.  You must schedule your road test appointment AFTER the 6 month date.  It CANNOT be ON or BEFORE the 6 month date.
• 
• Lost hard copy? Request a replacement from the DPS office. Paper permits expire after 60 days and photos on phones are not accepted.
• !6 & 17yrs or completed a Teen Course Must have in your possession the DE964 Texas Driver Education Certificate that states "FOR DRIVERS LICENSE ONLY" at the top of the certificate. "LEARNERS LICENSE ONLY" CERTIFICATE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
• 18 - 24 yrs: Must have in your possession the ADE1317 Texas Driver Education Certificate.

Personal Vehicle Requirements:

If using your own vehicle for the Road Test:

•  Current Inspection & Registration Tags (Tags must be visible on windshield) if you ordered your window tags, you may bring the email from Texas Dept of Motor Vehicles that state's "This Receipt is proof of Registration for Law Enforcement" located at bottom of the email showing unexpired date.
• Front and Rear License Plates must be Attached to car (Texas State Law).
• Paper Plates on back only, will be accepted if not expired.
• A new Law in affect as of August 1, 2025:  A new car in Texas now means you will receive a permanent metal license plate from the dealer at the time of sale, rather than a paper temporary tag. You will also need to display the metal plate on both the front and rear of your vehicle.   Until you receive and affix your permanent registration sticker on new vehicle, you must provide your buyer's receipt to the instructor at test.
• Printed proof of Liability Insurance Texas ID Card. Your name doesn't have to be on the policy, as long as there are no restrictions on the policy.   
• A Working Air Conditioner capable of blowing cool air.

If needed, you may Rent an A-Plus Driving School vehicle for $75 using Major Credit Card or Debit Card) or only $70 paying by CASH (No Checks or Money Orders accepted). You may pay for the rental when you arrive for your appointment.  Call ahead to reserve our car.

🎥 DPS Impact Video Requirement before taking a Road Test  

The IMPACT is not part of any course. It is required by the State of Texas DPS to watch after a student has completed full drivers ed course and before taking the road test.

All testers must watch the required IMPACT Video for their age.

⚠️ Biggest mistake we see? Watching the Impact video too soon.

Do Not Watch IMPACT Video until your course + drives are 100% done.

Your completed IMPACT VIDEO CERTIFICATE must show date of completion ON or AFTER completing a full drivers ed course, 

TEENS, this includes ALL driving required for course, not just the classroom curriculum. 

If the IMPACT is Dated before a student has completed the full drivers ed course, they will not be able to test. Look at all dates to be sure. 

After Watching Impact Video, Print your Certificate & Bring to Road Test. It must:

• Be Dated after Full Course Completion

• The IMPACT Certificate will expire in 90 days

What to Bring to the Road Test/ Checklist

When making your appointment please consider that you MUST ARRIVE 20 minutes early for check in to allow us to check all paperwork and vehicle and have you in the car by your scheduled appointment time. 

We ask that you have all documents clipped together to hand in.  Searching for documents when you arrive will only cause a delay and may cause you to have to reschedule your appointment. Rescheduling fee will be $40.

No Refunds for Late/missed appointments or arriving with incorrect documents or car not road ready.

Ages 16–17 (or 18-24 )if you completed a Teen Course and have DE964 certificate)

• Parent or legal guardian must be present
• Valid Texas learner license (held for OVER 6 months)
• DE-964 Certificate labeled “For Driver License Only”
• If transferred from another course: Bring both original and transferred DE-964
• ITTD (Impact Texas Teen Drivers) Certificate
• Printed proof of car insurance (unless Renting A-Plus Vehicle)

Ages 18–24

• Valid, unexpired Texas Learner License YOU MUST HAVE A DRIVING PERMIT
• ADE-1317 Certificate from a 6-Hour Adult Driver Ed Course
• ITAD (Impact Texas Adult Drivers) Certificate (within 90 days)
• Printed proof of car insurance (unless Renting A-Plus Vehicle)

Ages 25+

• Valid, unexpired Texas Learner License YOU MUST HAVE A DRIVING PERMIT
• ITAD (Impact Texas Adult Drivers) Certificate (within 90 days)
• Printed proof of car insurance (unless Renting A-Plus Vehicle)

Note: If applying for your first license over 25, a 6-Hour Adult Driver Ed Course is not required—but recommended. You must have passed the written permit test at DPS.

Fees

• Road Test Fee: $75.  (Paid online) Includes up to 3 test attempts
• Vehicle Rental (optional): $75 Credit or Debit or $70 CASH per test (Pay upon arrival)
• Missed appointment $40 Rescheduling Fee (within 90 Days of Missed Test)

Important Appointment Instructions:

To ensure a smooth and timely check-in process, please follow the guidelines below:

• Arrive Prepared: All required documents must be printed and ready to submit upon arrival. We cannot accept digital documents that are on your phone or computer.  If you're in a bind and don't have access to a printer, give us a call, in advance. We may be able to assist you with printing for a small fee or as a courtesy depending on availability. Please do not wait until the last minute, as we cannot guarantee same day assistance.  
• Early Arrival Required: Please arrive 20 minutes before your scheduled appointment to allow time for check-in and paperwork.
• No Exceptions for Late Arrivals: If you arrive late, you will be required to reschedule. No refunds will be issued for missed or late appointments.

If you fail the Road Test:

You may schedule 2 more retests within 90 days of failing your first test, without having to pay again.  You will need to practice at home and once you are confident and ready, you may call in to schedule your retest by phone. We do not schedule retests for the same day. 

*Car Rental is not included in the free Retest.

After you have Passed the Road Test:

A-Plus will give to you a sealed envelope with your Original Certificates you provide to us and your test scores. You will need to make an appointment to take the envelope to the DPS office to have your license issued.
